AHE, On the navigators’ route
Very close neighbour of Manihi, Ahe is a very small island where life is reduced to basic everyday life tasks:Fishing and coprah. Bernard Moitessier, famous French navigator, stayed there when Ahe was one of the major pearl farming place.
Known for its biodiversity and coral delicacy, its jade lagoon with intense
violine glints offers several diving sites open to all divers. By the wonderful Tiareroa pass or by the coral reefs of Rahokoro and Taharuga, numerous species of
sharks can be spotted (from white or black tipped to hammerheads), as well as manta and leppard rays,Napoleon fish and barracuda shoals swiming around coral roses.
Well known by sailors, Ahe is frequently visited by boats coming from the Marquesas.
